38. Subirachs

Have you stopped to think that, in order for trains to circulate, a lot of things have to be built: the tracks they travel on, the tunnels, the bridges, and also the stations from which the trains depart and where the passengers can get on or off them...

The first stations were small, but soon bigger and bigger stations began to be built for all the people travelling by train locally or for long distances.

And they became authentic works of art! This stone mural we are looking at was built by a sculptor called Josep María Subirachs to welcome passengers arriving at a big station in Catalonia.
