41. Goods area

The trains didn’t just transport people but lots of things, or goods.

In this part of the House of Trains we can see some of the wagons and containers that were used for carrying these products. Have a good look, they are very different.

That’s because they products they carried were different. The closed wagons, for example, were used for transporting products that could deteriorate in the open air.

Did you know that freight trains, the ones that pulled these wagons and containers, had special stations of their own? They were usually located on the outskirts of the cities.
